At this time Bluetooth system simply does not exist for people who is hearing aids. Because the method that is used currently is Tela coil, running at something like 76.5 MHz. We need an audio stream just below the FM broadcast bound. This is where their transmitter operates. It is pretty much 1980s early 1990s technology. The public address Bluetooth transmission system is still evolving, and there is not a company that currently provides services of this kind that is known. Also bear in mind that the national office is operating at a slight budget of deficit which means we've been told to make deal with what we have for now. So two things have to happen to make future conventions work well one fundraising this is at the national level not the division level. Two they simply need to buy a new system, it is estimated by the executive director for access excellence System that does essentially broadcast Bluetooth it's roughly 3 to 6 years in the future just simply because any company that wants to do this has to work with audiologist a math process is slow and put the manufacture manufacturing transmitters then do this it's quite expensive about this time. This is why this is the best solution for right now please understand the national office does not buy things like you and I buy them it has to be done through our financial services. We can certainly advocate

Put something like what you are describing, but until fundraising picks up I don't believe the national office is going to be authorizing anything big for a while. That is my understanding of the current situation. I hope this explanation although brief explains what's going on.

On Mar 24, 2025, at 20:46, Michael Forzano via NFB-DB <nfb-db@nfbnet.org> wrote:

Hi Maurice,

What is the reason for promoting the approach of having an interpreter voice the proceedings into a personal system? that we will likely move the June public meeting probably to the weekend =
of June 7, this is because we would not have board quorum. Stay tuned =
will update you on that in the future email. The next thing if anyone is =
a first time national convention attendee, and he is wishing to apply =
for the Jernigan Convention scholarship, which covers between four and =
$500 of a first Time convention attendees expenses, and you wish a =
letter of recommendation please reach out to me soon. Because I believe =
that deadline is in the middle of April.
If you are coming to convention and use Bluetooth hearing aids I would =
strongly encourage you to work with your audiologist to get a personal =
communication system such as a remote microphone. This is so that you =
can ask for it on the pre-registration form and request an interpreter =
to voice, repeat the proceedings into your personal System.

If you are wishing a volunteer SSP or convention please send me an email =
off list with the subject when I'm in B 2025 enable forwarded onto our =
second vice president who will be working on matching you with an =
appropriate volunteer SSP. The things that need to be in that email, one =
if you're not going to be at the pool national convention what dates =
will you be there. Two do you require, reques tackle sign, if we can't =
find someone that can do turtle sign do you read braille and do you have =
a portable refreshable braille display? I have found this to be =
personally helpful during convention week. Your email should also =
include your name and your state affiliate.

Emails for the volunteer SSP program in terms of people who are =
requesting volunteer SSP's should be in my email box by no later than =
May 31 preferably sooner than that.

Resolutions if you have an idea for a resolution please reach out to =
Doula she is a divisions resolutions Committee chair person. She will be =
happy to take your ideas on our before May 1. This is because the =
national cut off for resolutions is an early June and we want to allow =
time for people to make certain that their resolutions are in such form =
that I can pass them along to the committee if they need the division =
endorsement.

I'm sure that other board members will chime in if there's something =
that I forgot to put in this email. Here's hoping that you're very early =
spring is going well? If there's something that I have not mentioned in =
this email that you feel is extremely important please send me an email =
off list I don't see if it's something we can assist you with or =
something we can put on the June meeting agenda. Finally just so that =
everyone is aware I am working on the annual meeting agenda because that =
deadline is fast approaching. I will of course published that agenda =
around the time of the overall national convention of being released by =
the national office. But I will say this at this point it will be =
dynamic and diverse. Look forward to reading any responses both ones up =
here on the list, and responses that are emailed directly to me office =
list.
