[Nfb-editors] Logo

I completely agree with you about the branding of the logo, and I don't
think I, or Marion, or anyone else, is suggesting we change the colors
or look of the Whosit. We just think it is not a bad idea to allow
groups and divisions to submit a logo concept specific to their group.
This is branding as well.

For example, if Marion incorporated a guide dog with the Whosit, it
allows the group to have branding specific to the division. It is still
NFB, but now it can be recognized specific to that division. That is
all branding is- things, like a logo, that make a group recognizable.

Since groups like the guide dog association do a lot of work with the
public and communicate often outside the NFB, it is not a bad idea for
the division to incorporate something that makes the Whosit specific to
their group so it is immediately recognized as a part of the guide dog
division of the NFB.

Question though, if we are so concerned with branding and keeping the
logo specific (which I agree with) why do affiliate and division
websites have no uniformity? They should have the same look as
national's, but they don't. I've always been curious about this. Most
national organizations that have affiliates and chapters follow the same
outline for a website as their national.

People should go to affiliate and division websites and automatically
recognize it as an NFB website because it looks like national's.

I strongly urge you to raise the question with President Maurer. I
remember when we first switched to Whozit, we were reminded often that
the colors and Whozit figure had always to be identical for branding
purposes. I think only President Maurer could make the decision to add
an element to a division logo.

Cordially,
Barbara

Mike,
I am not intending to replace the NFB logo; ratehr, I am wanting to
find

a way to use it in conjunction with another. One of my thoughts is to
incorporate a Whozit guide dog along with the regular Whozit. I have
also
considered Whozit with a guide dog. Of course, all of this is in the
conceptualization stage and would need to have the approval of the
Board. I
hope you understand I am a team player seeking to enhance the NFB, not
diminish it!

Fraternally yours,
Marion
