You don't need to forward the nfbnet-members-list and nfbnet-master-list
messages to your list, as everyone on the list has already gotten them.

Registration is Now Open!
for the
Braille Symposium
September 27-29, 2012
at the
National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute
Baltimore, Maryland
The National Federation of the Blind, a leading champion for Braille, is
excited to announce the Braille Symposium, which will provide professionals,
blind people, and other interested parties with an opportunity to learn
about and discuss promising practices in Braille instruction and teacher
preparation in Braille. The symposium will feature sessions in three
formats: vignettes from blind people on how Braille is being used today,
presentation/discussion sessions on promising practices, and problem
solution sessions.
Speakers will include leading experts who will discuss the most
innovative work that is being done on Braille today. Presentation topics
will include:
· teaching the Braille code efficiently and effectively
· providing high quality Braille instruction to blind adults
· current practices in Braille instruction at the university level
for future teachers of the blind
· integrating Braille instruction into the classroom reading
curriculum
· integrating Braille and print
Problem solution sessions will focus on:
· the large caseloads teachers have to manage
· setting up future teachers for success in their university
Braille courses while maintaining high standards
