Also, It should be noted that Jessica, our coordinator of chapter development for the state affiliate, has personally come to Greeley for the last two meetings we have had, and she plans to come to others. We are finally getting more support from the state, and this is definitely a good thing. However, with that said, we, as a chapter of a larger state affiliate need to do our part to contribute to the growth of the affiliate. If that means that we help in the organization of divisions, or that we raise money to help support state affiliate and national initiatives and our own members, then that is what we should do. The NFB is a grassroots organization that didn't get to where it is by taking and never giving back to the communities in which we have established chapters or supporting those folks who support our affiliates with their valuable time and efforts. Let us keep this in mind as we work toward the growth and betterment of not only ourselves as people who happen to be blind, but also as members of a thriving organization that gstands up for our rights and gives us the support that will hopefully, one day allow us to be treated equally in this country! We not only need to work as individuals to help where and how we can, but we as the NFB of Greeley Chapter, a proud chapter of the Colorado affiliate of the National Federation of The blind also need to work to further our goals. This is not, nore has it ever been an organization from which we can simply take and not give back, and we should not treat it as such. I would hope that no member of this chapter feels that they are entitled, and that everyone who claims to be a member of our chapter would feel the same sense of responsibility to help our chapter, the state affiliate, and ultimately our entire national organization grow and thrive through our actions both as individuals and as a group. Just my thoughts again...

Vice president, NFB of Greeley Chapter

  di.
the state is requiring chapters to give money for convention.
I meant that the state is giving us support, by helping us with the expo, and any other event that we want to put on.

  Sincerely,
  Melissa and Pj

  Mel,
First you said "the state will not give much assistance for convention",
then you said "Especially now that we are getting more support from the state".
  I am confused,
  Diane

    Hi all.
as a chapter we need to raise funds for things that we want to do.
the state will not give much assistance for convention.
So we need to work together and raise money for the future.
the chocolate bar fundraiser is a great idea. But we need to have everyone participate. Right now if everyone buys a bag of chocolate chips, or candy melts or anything that will fit in the molds. We have four sets of molds now and each mold makes two bars each.
also we will need to raise money to do more things in the community such as the visio faire/expo, attending state convention, going bowling, another chapter picnic, going to state board meetings, donating to the senior center, christmas and easter things for the community, and so much more.
Marty and I still have a few water bottles. That need to be sold.
Jessica when is the next open board meeting?
We should attend as a chapter
Especially now that we are getting more support from the state.

    Sincerely,
    Melissa and Pj
