I do not have a strong opinion one way. There are definitely pros and cons
on both sides so really at this point I think it boils down to good
marketing on either date. We should probably choose the time that works
best for the chapter and work really hard to get the word out and talk up
this event to everyone we can.

I do think that we should decide soon so that we if it is in the summer we
can market to the students who are still in school this Spring who will not
be here and if it is in the Fall we can market the event in the summer so
that some of the students who only have class in the summer will know about
the event.

Melissa, after we have discussed the pros and cons from each side on the
list you could probably pose the question and ask people to respond with a
simple summer or fall. I love the current discussion but once all the
points have come out from each side and we aren't really seeing anything new
then we can see what everyone is thinking and go from there. Of course, you
could wait until the April meeting but since it is so close to the end of
April yo would be pushing it to start marketing during this semester if we
decide to go with the summer date.

These are just a few thoughts for you guys to consider. Keep up the good
work and discussion.

Best Wishes

Jess

  Hi cody and all.
the summer orientation and mobility students only have classes in the
summer, and teachers of blind students also aren't working in the summer.
additionally, its easier to get the ballrooms during the summer.
Only drawback I can see with the 31st is that I may have class that day
and
  will be doing finals.
but we can work that out.
this is just my opinion and I say we keep it reserved and discuss it at
the
  next meeting.

  Melissa and Pj

I am not opposed to weighting until fall however, I really feel our expo
would be very beneficial to the orientation and mobility students as I
gave
a presentation to there.class last summer and it was made evident to me
that
they have had very little interaction with or belief in the abilities of
blind people Also other TVIs in the area may be able to attend the event
as they won't be teaching Another reason I am hesitant about weighting
until fall is that prior seminars that CABS has held in greeley haven't
exactly had the success as far as attendance that we would like.
Regardless of when we do the expo though, I feel it should be a priority
of
our chapter to reach out to the orientation and mobility students this
  summer.
  Thanks,
  Cody
