Subject: Interested in a self-defense course?

Hi,

Garrett and I are working on planning a self-defense course for visually
impaired individuals for the Northern Colorado area. This class is taught by
DVR's Adaptive Technology Specialist, Jim Pilkington. Previous courses in
Denver and Colorado Springs have been well received. The course typically
runs in about 5 sessions (so at least 5 weeks), and each session is several
hours. We are looking at having this start in mid-July, and it will be
hosted in Fort Collins. We are trying to develop a list of interested
clients, so please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in
attending this course.

Thanks,

Becky

Hello Garrett,

Sorry about the confusion; I will talk with Lindsey to decide on the first
date and get back to you.

Depending on the students’ abilities, it will probably require 5 class
sessions.

In the Colorado Springs classes, we broke the day up into morning and
afternoon sessions, each running about 2.5 to 3 hours in length.

I’ve found that a lot of our students have relatively low fitness levels, so
spending this much time on their feet was pushing the limits of endurance.

Please encourage potential students to exercise in the next few weeks to
improve their general fitness. Any type of Cardio work would be helpful,
and let them know that these classes will require standing and moving on
their feet for periods of 30 to 45 minutes

This could be a good excuse to push them toward more physical activity in
general.

Also, if you could give me a ballpark estimate of the number of
participants, ages, and any health issues that could affect their ability to
participate in class.

I’m really looking forward to getting back up to the Fort

Best regards,

Jim
