Dear Friends,
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) of Hawai'i takes great pride in
awarding scholarships to worthy blind students pursuing an undergraduate or
graduate degree in an accredited college program. Scholarships range from
$500 to $1,000 with the opportunity for additional travel awards.
The applicant must be legally blind and a full-time student. Scholarship
candidates must display excellence in academics, involvement in community
service, as well as exemplify independence as a blind individual. All
eligible students are encouraged to apply. Enclosed is a copy of the NFB
scholarship application. Please return completed application with supporting
documentation (official school transcripts, medical documentation of visual
impairment, and two letters of recommendation) by September 30, 2009 to the

Scholarship finalists are required to attend the NFB state convention on
Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18,to be held at the Elks Lodge
2933 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu, as well as all related scholarship meetings.
Neighbor-island finalists' travel expenses will be paid by NFB of Hawai'i.
