Dear Consumers, Staff and Friends of Hoopono,

Hawaii State VR is exploring the possibility of establishing a Comprehensive
Deaf Center (CDC). It has been suggested by some in the community that the
Deaf center be placed here in Hoopono's building.

We all know the value of good training and support services to prepare
individuals for independent living and employment. I believe the CDC is a
wonderful idea and I wish them much success. However, programmatically I
have serious concerns regarding this proposal. What is most important is to
get input from the blind and visually impaired community, as well as staff
and other constituents, regarding your thoughts on the proposed co-location
of these two very different types of programs in our building here at
Ho'opono.

Please provide me with your input as soon as possible, preferably in
Braille, print, or electronic format, before June 21. Please pass this
message to others you know who may want to give input on this proposal. I
apologize if I have inadvertently left anyone off this email... I'm trying
to get it out before the three-day weekend.

Mahalo,

Lea Grupen, M.Ed.
