About the Training
What It Is: A unique training event for cultural institutions, television producers, accessibility advocates and the general public. Co-sponsored by the Hawai‘i Lions Foundation, Hawai‘i Association of the Blind & The Center on Disability Studies.
At this half-day interactive, multi-media session, participants will experience how Audio Description (AD) makes visual images accessible for people who are blind or have low vision—the visual is made verbal. Using words that are succinct, vivid, and imaginative, describers convey the visual image that is not fully accessible to a significant segment of the population and not fully realized by the rest of us—people who see but who may not observe. AD is offered—in a wide range of human endeavor.
Through this hands-on workshop, participants will experience how it works and what it takes to use Audio Description to make programming more accessible to patrons who are blind or have low vision—and more enjoyable for all.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make it your vision too!
Educate: learn how to produce audio descriptive media with Joel Snyder.
Enrich: lives by making your agency accessible for everyone to enjoy. Empower: the blind by bridging communities and encouraging others to do the same. Enterprise: increase your membership to include the thousands of sight-challenged consumers in Hawai‘i and break barriers that discourage participation and interaction. You can help by giving ‘inclusiveness for all’ the consideration it deserves.
