Subject: 1st Annual Pacific Regional Student Seminar

Passing along information about the 1st Annual Pacific Regional Student
Seminar. I got it clarified this is open to all students or interested
students, meaning those who are thinking about going back to school.
Thanks!

Aloha!

Still today, blind students are struggling to receive accessible course
materials at the same time as their sighted peers. Still today, science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields are predominantly
restricted to the sighted world. Still today, the unemployment rate for
blind Americans exceeds 70%. It is up to us, blind students, to raise
expectations and break down barriers that exist in our society.

You are invited to the 1st annual Pacific Student Seminar, Climbing to New
Heights, hosted by the National Federation of the Blind of Hawaii. This
seminar provides blind and low vision students with the skills and tools
necessary to properly advocate, effectively study, and to develop
professional skills from successful blind professionals. By the end of this
seminar, students will walk away with the understanding that, with the
proper training, advocacy, and work ethic, blind students can live the lives
they want.

Dates: September 22-24, 2017

Where: Hoopono Services for the Blind

     1901 Bachelot Street, Honolulu, Hawaii
