Aloha Kakahiaka, Arun:

I hope you have been receiving my previous emails.

I write on behalf of the Honolulu Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Hawaii to urge Senator Brian Schatz to join Senator Mazie Hirono as a cosponsor of S. 732, the Access Technology Affordability Act.

This bill would increase the availability of Access Technology, thereby increasing educational and employment opportunities for all blind Americans. The bill does this by creating a tax credit for the purchase of access technology. The National Federation of the Blind has analyzed the cost impact, and the bill is either cost neutral or will save the government money.

We urge Senator Brian Schatz to cosponsor the bill.

Mahalo,

Justin Salisbury

Aloha Arun,

I know I only reached out to you a few days ago, but I wanted to offer you a quick update on this bill.

On November 16, Senator Mazie Hirono became another cosponsor of this important legislation to help low-income blind people afford the technology we need to access education and employment opportunities. This will help us move up in the world and no longer be low-income blind people.

We would really appreciate it if Senator Brian Schatz would join Senator Mazie Hirono as a cosponsor of this bill.

Mahalo nui loa,

Justin

Aloha Arun,

The Honolulu Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Hawaii would like to ask Senator Brian Schatz to cosponsor the Access Technology Affordability Act (S. 732).

We are proud to say that Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa is a cosponsor of the House companion bill, H.R. 1734.

This bill will help blind people be able to afford some of the technologies that we need in order to be independent and contribute meaningfully in our community. It will offer a tax credit for low-income blind people who need to purchase these technologies, which will then help us increase our productivity and earning potential.

Could Senator Brian Schatz please cosponsor S. 732?

If there is anything at all that I can do to help, please do let me know.
