Also, on item 12 of the agenda there will be a proposed CD1 draft amendments that were made on January 23 and March 27, 2019 to Bill 77 2018 (see attach) regarding with Bus and Handi-Van fee increases for your review.

 

One of the major proposed is a 50%increase fee hike for TheHandi-Van for a one-way ride going from $2.00 to $3.00 effective July 1, 2019. The original version of Bill 77 (2018) included a 12.5%increase from $2.00 to $2.25 for a one-way ride that I and other riders voice their support for a gradual increase.

 

Please share   this email with others in your network who be interested in attending the meeting and voice their concerns regarding with the proposed fee hikes!

A. In SECTION 2 of the bill: 

1. Amends the effective date to July 1, 2019 for all of the fares listed in the fare structure table; 

2. Amends the Single Cash Fare – Special Event fare for all passenger categories, except personal care attendants, from $6.25 to $8.00; 

3. Amends the monthly bus pass and annual bus pass fares for persons with a temporary disability under ROH Section 13-2.2 from $6.00 and $35.00 to $8.00 and $45.00, respectively; 

4. Amends the monthly bus pass and annual bus pass fares for persons with a permanent disability under ROH Section 13-2.2 from $6.00 and $35.00 to $8.00 and $45.00, respectively; 

5. Amends the monthly bus pass and annual bus pass fares for persons with a paratransit eligibility ID Card under ROH Section 13-4.3 from $6.00 and $10.00 to $8.00 and $45.00, respectively; and 

6. Amends the monthly and annual bus pass fare for seniors from $12.00 and $120.00 to $8.00 and $45.00, respectively. 

B. Deletes SECTION 3 of the bill which added additional categories in ROH Section 13-2.10(a) for bus passes for those with extremely low incomes. 

C. Adds a new SECTION 3 to the bill that amends ROH Section 13-2.2 to change the two year duration of a bus pass issued to a person with a 

temporary disability under ROH Section 13-2.2 to one year for purposes of corresponding to the deletion of the Biennial Bus Pass fare for such passes in SECTION 2 of the bill. 

D. Deletes SECTION 4 of the bill, which would have amended ROH Section 13-4.2 to specify that the application for special transit services may include a declaration by the applicant that the applicant is currently receiving supplemental security income.

E. Adds a new SECTION 4 to the bill which repeals ROH Section 13-2.10 

(“Bus passes for those with extremely low incomes”). 

F. In SECTION 5 of the bill, amends the single fare for special transit services from $2.25 to $3.00, deletes all language related to a low-income fare of $1.00 for persons receiving supplemental security income, and removes the requirement that revenues from low-income fare must be deposited into the bus transportation fund. 

G. Deletes former SECTION 6 of the bill, which related to transition provisions, and renumbers subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly. 

H. Makes miscellaneous technical and nonsubstantive amendments.
