Thank you, Becky for this information. I and I know many others were
wondering. I will certainly be praying for her.

> Hi everyone, this is Becky Hales. We, as an NFB, are a family, and right
> now, the Newhouse family needs all the prayers they can get, from all of
> us. I'm not sure how much to say, but I will warn you right now, some of
> it will be very blunt. Shelly has been feeling a little under the weather
> the last week. Turns out she has had at least 2 types of infections, which
> have only gotten worse. And there are other serious medical issues at
> play, as well, on top of the ones she already had To make a long story
> very short, she was taken to the hospital early this afternoon. From the
> ER, after all needed test were done, she was admitted directly to ICU.
> Tygh & I have spent the last 6 hours with Noel, waiting in either the ER
> conference room, ICU waiting room, or ICU conference room. (I came home in
> order to post this, and to eat & relax a little, Tygh is still there with
> Noel) The Dr's are saying that there is not a very good chance that she
> will survive, and if she does survive, she will be facing many surgeries,
> and many weeks, if not months, in the hospital or some type of a care
> facility, and she would be on dialysis at least short term, if not for the
> rest of her life. Right now she is not stable enough to have the kind of
> surgery needed to get rid of one of the infections. SHelly's mom is on her
> way up from Twin Falls.... honestly, we don't know if Shelly will last
> long enough for her mom to get to the hospital. She is at St Alphonsus
> Hospital in Boise. But obviously, no visitors or phone calls, really. If
> anyone wants to call Tygh or mysself, that would be okay. if anyone wants
> either of our phone #'s please reply here. And I will do my best to post
> updates here when possible/ necessary. We know that Shelly is strong and
> stubborn, and is a fighter. But we don't know how long she will be able to
> fight this. please keep Noel and Shelly in your prayers. We will post
> updates when we know more/ as we are able. Also, please, let your family
> know what your final wishes are (Ie, CPR, ect) and make sure to have it on
> a living will. And please, do what needs to be done to take care of your
> self. Being independant is an excellent thing in most cases, but it is
> only good to a point. As I said, Shelly had only been getting worse since
> she went to the Dr Thursday. She needed the help of paramedics twice since
> then... they helped her with what she needed, but she refused any further
> medical care (ie, going to the hospital). Noel pleaded with her this whole
> morning to go to the hospital, but she still wouldn't. Only after he
> called Tygh & I around noon, and we came over and pleaded with her for 20
> mins, did she finally agree to go to the hospital. I could see a change in
> her from the time we got them and the time the ambulance took her to the
> hospital. I never want to have to experience this again, and I don't want
> any of you to have to, either. again, please keep Shelly and Noel in your
> prayers. and I appologize if I have said too much, or offended anyone.
> God Bless all of us this Easter Season, especially the Newhouse Family.
