Well, I was wrong. Jan has been working with the people at the Owyhee Plaza
who were handling our convention. They are not going to keep hotel sleeping
rooms open after the first of April. They are going to be able to handle
our meetings and group meals. They will transfer reservations for sleeping
rooms already made to the Safari Inn across eleventh street from the Owyhee
at the same rates we had with the owyhee. Those who have not yet made
reservations should phone the Safari at 208-344-6556. Occommodations there
should be nice. They have rooms with one or two beds. Each room has a
refrigerator, a microwave, a coffeepot, as well as the standard hotel stuff.
There is a continental breakfast at the hotel. I did not ask Jan if there
is a charge for it, but it will be reasonable or free. It would definitely
be desirable to reserve rooms without delay. Even though the Owyhee has
only been using 68 rooms lately, that is a reduction in hotel rooms in the
downtown area. Jan says the people she has been dealing with have been very
nice. They were quite surprised when they learned of some of these changes
this Monday. Both Jan and the catering staff at the Owyhee deserve our
thanks for pulling this off so quickly and so well.
