One of the wonderful things about Youtube, vimeo, daily motion, or any of
the free video streaming services is that anyone can make videos and share
them. In fact, if you have a gmail account you automatically have a Youtube
account. Within your YOutube account you can create channels with any name
you choose.

Most all recent smart phones have a good video camera built in and the
ability to upload your videos directly to your Youtube account. You tube
even has a free video editor but most times you really don't need to edit
the video. Some exceptions would be the combining of video clips, like the
video that Sierra recently put together.

Videos do not always need to be scripted. If fact, many of the most popular
videos on Youtube are short videos of people doing everyday activities. I
encourage everyone to practice making videos and uploading them to Your own
youtube channel. Remember, you can always delete them at a later time if
you wish.

I am planning on creating a separate web page for each chapter on our stae
website and would love to have videos from each chapter featured on their
own chapter page. Maybe one video with the chapter president talking about
who they are and inviting people in their area to contact them, and other
videos of various chapter members involved doing whatever. There are people
out there that want to get to know you and see who the people of the NFBI
really are.

Some of you may not be aware that we have been using Youtube to promote the
Idaho NFB for several years now. Katy had recorded video of the banquet
speeches of Parnell Diggs and Anil Lewis and featured them on Youtube, and
now the state website. It is much more effective though to have everyone
involved making videos and sharing them. We need to show people who the
blind of Idaho are and that we live normal full lives like everyone else.
This is one fun way that we can do it and nobody need be left out.

The more the videos the better and the more members making videos and
uploading them to their own channels the better. We can always take clips
from any of them to make a compilation video if desired. It is also
recommended that people include a link to the NFB Idaho website, or in the
case of chapters, to their chapter web page on the NFB Idaho website.

Don't be afraid to ask for help from your friends or sighted family
members. Some aspects of this endeavor is still quite visual but you will
be surprised how much you can do and fun you can have. You can also find
helpful tutorials on Youtube itself on how to do just about anything with
youtube.

I will be hosting a conference call on Monday May 9th at 7:30 pm to discuss
Youtube and chapter pages for the website. Anyone that is interested in
joining the conference is welcome to do so.
