It is time to begin thinking about the reading activity we have sponsored
for several years. This year it is the Idaho Braille-a-thon. It will begin
January 4, Louis Braille's birthday, and will end March 4, Jennie Facer's
birthday. The goal of anyone participating is to read Braille pages,
counting them. Keep track of the pages in each book or document you read,
writing it down. At the end of the reading time, you will total your pages
and submit your list of documents to me. We are asking each participant to
get someone to be a certifying authority. They can be a responsible friend,
parent, teacher or even another reader. The idea is to encourage one another
by reporting to someone what books you are reading. There will be more
information as time grows nearer to the beginning of the contest, There
will be a short questionnaire to complete, and you will keep track of the
pages you read-Not everyday, but every document you read in Braille. And
this year, you will be able to include textbook pages, so long as they are
in hard copy Braille or on a Braille notetaker. Join the facebook group and
wait for the questionnaire soon to come.
