Dear Affiliate Members, 
I have been asked to be the Chair of the Resolutions Committee this year at the NFBI State Convention. I would like to request that all resolutions be emailed to me no later than a week before our convention which would be April 19, 2018. 
If you have questions on how to write a resolution, here is an example that was shared with me. 


It is a comical, but great example: 




Be a part of setting policy and priorities for the NFB of Idaho . Resolutions passed by the convention are the tools we use to inform the public and public officials of our needs, our desires, and our solutions. Most of the things we do in our organization started with a resolution. 
Resolutions are written as such; First, what is the problem? How does it affect blind people? And why is it a problem? 
The second part is what do we do about it? Who do we tell? What do we want them to do? 
Here is a quick example calling for a specific desert, and showing that it is healthy? 

Whereas, Doctors and those skilled in nutrition have long advocated for the inclusion of vegetable with every meal; and Whereas, We have been told that to maintain good health we should eat several servings of vegetables or fruit every day; and Whereas, chocolate, a bean of the cocoa plant is technically defined as a vegetable; and Whereas, it is in the best interest of all of us to maintain good health by the frequent eating of vegetables' 
Now Therefore Be It Resolved... 
That we call upon all restaurants, organizations and agencies to make chocolate cakes, pies, tortes and other confections available to everyone, free of charge, at every meal.

The resolutions committee will meet on Thursday evening at convention. Please send your resolutions to me at least a week in advance to vickiebateman at cableone.net
