That's a strange letter. Did he think we didn't know anything when we contacted him?

Dear Colleen:

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 620, the ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017. I appreciate hearing from you and having the opportunity to respond.

As you may know, Representative Ted Poe (R-TX) introduced H.R. 620 on February 8, 2017. This legislation would amend the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 to promote compliance through education, to clarify the requirements for demand letters, to provide for a notice and cure period before the commencement of a private civil action.

H.R. 620 passed in the House of Representatives on February 15, 2018 with a vote of 225 - 192. It now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate. You may wish to contact Senators Crapo and Risch to share your thoughts on this legislation.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact me about this issue. As your representative in Congress, it is important to me to know your thoughts and opinions about issues affecting our nation today. I also encourage you to visit my website, www.simpson.house.gov, to sign up for my e-newsletter and to read more about my views on a variety of issues.

Sincerely,

Mike Simpson
Member of Congress
