First, if you want a hotel room on the first floor, you need to let the
front desk know. The Red Lion Canyon Springs does not have an elevator and
they have 2 floors. Secondly, Vickie Bateman is the chair of the resolutions
committee. Please get resolutions in to her by April 19. Her email is
vickiebateman at cableone.net. Please text or call her to let her know you have
sent a resolution. Thirdly, it was brought to my attention that some people
do not know the basic convention schedule. I am working hard to get our
agenda put together and finalized, but here is a thumb nail sketch, so you
know the basics. We will have a general session on Friday morning, April 27
from 8:30-12:00. There may be a class before the general session, but I have
not determined this for sure. The class would be optional and probably would
relate to some type of technology. The blindness product and services expo
will take place from 12:00-4:30. We are expecting several vendors with
technology, so there will be a lot to see and experience. There will be a
few classes and meetings taking place during the technology session and
hospitality will be open, but I want to be sure that people go to the expo
and see the new products and meet and thank our vendors who have given their
time to come. We will have a board meeting at 5:30. It is an open meeting
and the meal will be lasagna. Our evening activity will be viewing a
documentary "Do You Dream In Color?" which is about 4 blind teens and their
experiences in the education system. We will have a discussion after the
movie. Those who would like to can bring their musical instruments and we
will share our music informally after the end of the documentary. Saturday
will be a general session including our business meeting and our banquet. We
will have some meetings during the noon hour. Hopefully this gives you an
idea of the general order of the convention. If you have questions, please
email or call me at 208 345-3906. We're planning a fun and enriching
convention.
