Pasted in this email is a notice of public meetings for the State Independent Living Council. I just received this yesterday and some meetings have already happened. A link to the survey is provided and I urge everyone to complete it and on the final question, please discuss the importance of independent living services for the blind. There is a good chance that the Idaho Commission for the Blind will lose approximately $49,000 in independent living funds with the new state plan. Your input is essential. If you can’t make a meeting, call the State Independent Living Council at 208 334-3800 and tell them about your experiences receiving training for the blind. The State Independent Living Council and the centers for independent living do not provide this training. If you need help with the survey call and tell them that you need help to complete it. The time to act is now! Independent Living services will be one of our topics for the legislative banquet.

“The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; Blindness is not what holds you back.”
