In Idaho we have four out of ten vendors in the Business Enterprise Program.

Subject: From RSA - A message from Nicky Gacos regarding the Women's Initiative

Dear BEP Blind Entrepreneur and Stakeholders:

Over a year ago, the NABM Board of Directors and I launched WISE - Women’s Initiative Supporting Entrepreneurship. We wanted to quantify the underrepresentation of women in Randolph-Sheppard, explore the reasons behind the numbers, and recommend steps to encourage more female participation. The result is a white paper that I think you will find very enlightening. Check it out at https://blindmerchants.org/women-in-randolph-sheppard-whitepaper/

I encourage you to see what you can do in your state to address this shortage. There is an untapped resource there and we need to find ways to recruit more women.

I also want to thank Melba Taylor and her Committee that has worked tirelessly on this initiative. The real work is just beginning.

Sincerely,

Nicky Gacos, President
National Association of Blind Merchants
