If you are not involved in the Treasure Valley Cycle for Independence, this may be an option you might be interested in. The event will be at the JUMP building on Saturday May 18 from 8:00 AM-7:00 PM

Creating opportunities for blind actors is a high priority in our national agenda, so this may be one way to open options.

Subject: Please Pass the Word - Auditioning Workshop for People with Disabilities

Hi Lisa, Beth and Dana:

If you haven't already, please consider passing this on to your members or contacts. We already have 20 people signed up for the workshop, but I'd like to get to 100 and it would be great if at least 25% were people with disabilities as I'd like to find aspiring actors for the film. As you know, we have two key roles for people who are blind.

Thanks for all your support.

Doug

FREE AUDITIONING WORKSHOP FOR ASPIRING ACTORS TO BE HELD AT JUMP

Boise, Idaho (April 26, 2019) - Actors with all levels of experience are encouraged to attend a free workshop held at Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) in Boise on Saturday, May 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Session instructors are actress April Matson and producer/casting director, Catrine McGregor. Matson and McGregor are co-authors of the book "Both Sides of the Desk: A Conversation Between a Casting Director and an Actor”.

Participants will learn how to audition for parts in TV shows and feature films and no previous acting experience is required. Topics include how to prepare lines, project confidence, and engage with casting directors. Participants will also be invited to attend the June 15 audition for “Making Sense”, an independent feature film supported by the Includeability Inc. charity which will be shot in McCall and Boise, Idaho beginning in September, 2019 by notable Idaho filmmaker Gregory Bayne.

A large number of parts in “Making Sense” will feature children and adults with disabilities. People with disabilities are encouraged to attend and special accommodations will be made such as ASL interpreters and mobility access. Beyond tips that can be used for auditioning, participants will receive a free acting resume and headshot for use in future auditions.

The class will be limited to the first 100 participants and ages 13 and older are welcome. RSVP is required at www.makingsense-film.com. People with disabilities may be accompanied by service animals or assistants/family if needed. Lunch will be provided.

“We’re delighted to bring this workshop to Boise to work with current and aspiring actors of all abilities to prepare them for auditions which can often be intimidating,” said McGregor. “We hope that many of them will return in June to use their skills in an actual audition setting.”

When: Saturday, May 18 at JUMP, 1000 W. Myrtle Street, Boise.
