We are pleased to announce that LeAnn Gelskey has accepted the position of
Talking Book Service (TBS) program supervisor with the Idaho Commission for
Libraries (ICfL). LeAnn will oversee the Idaho TBS program and manage the
TBS staff. She will conduct outreach and develop or enhance relationships
with organizations whose missions align with those of the Talking Book
Service. And as a member of the ICfL's management team, LeAnn will provide
leadership and guidance in defining how the agency fulfills its mission.

Prior to joining the ICfL, LeAnn was the director of the Hailey Public
Library for 10 years and was the assistant director before that. LeAnn
joined Hailey Public in 2001 as a part-time employee and was soon promoted
to the position of youth programs librarian. During her 20-year library
career, LeAnn has gained a considerable amount of practical knowledge and
developed a pragmatic approach to problem solving. While at Hailey Public,
LeAnn created partnerships with the Hunger Coalition, the Senior Connection,
and she served as a liaison to the Hispanic community within the Wood River
Valley. LeAnn was also named Librarian of the Year in 2019 by the Idaho
Library Association.

With her wealth of knowledge and passion for supporting the underserved,
LeAnn will be a tremendous asset to the TBS program and the ICfL!

I'm also happy to report the TBS team hit some important milestones last
week:

*	Over 1,000 TBS patrons were moved over to the new Scribe system you
were able to see demonstrated at your last meeting. This new system provides
multiple books on one cartridge for patrons and decreases waiting time for
in-demand titles. It also greatly reduces the time spent processing single
books, as returned cartridges no longer need to be inspected and shelved.
It's been wonderful to see so many patrons getting great books and there's
been lots of positive feedback about multiple titles on one cartridge!

*	Nancy, Linda, and Betty checked out over 7,000 books in 2-3 days
last week. Another record! We have been coming into the office 2-3 days per
week to ensure talking books are processed. Several staff from other
departments were able to pitch in to help inspect and work on other tasks to
ensure Idahoans who rely on these books for a source of comfort and normalcy
during these times have them in their hands.

I hope all is well with you. LeAnn can be reached at
LeAnn.Gelskey at libraries.idaho.gov and both of us are looking forward to the
meeting in September.

Take care,

Stephanie
