Next week, I am off to Colorado to participate in the What's Your Everest event. It is a fundraising event for No barriers, the organization started by  Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind person to summit mt. Everest. I remember kevin jhernigan, my O&M instructor telling me about him when I asked  if and how blind people navigated "off road" back during my blind classes at ICBVI. Now, here I am, participating in an event for Erik's organization that provides experiences for people with disabilities including veterans and children. Who would have thought?! I know being able to be mobile, not just around town but in nature, where I enjoy being, has made the world of difference in my life. I hope you find my experiences informative and inspiring.
