Forwarded below is the reply I received from Senator Risch, to my
communication urging him to co-sponsor S. 212 -- the Access Technology
Affordability Act. I suspect this will be familiar to others who have
contacted the Senator.

Dear Mr. Winiecki:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding Senate Bill 212, the
Access Technology Affordability Act. I appreciate hearing from you.

S. 212 was introduced by Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., and was subsequently
referred to the Committee on Finance. This legislation would create a
refundable tax credit for qualified access technology used by a blind
individual.

Taxes are always a very important issue and even more so during times of
economic crisis. There are many proposals on how to adjust our current tax
system, which range from fine-tuning certain codes to complete system
overhauls. As Congress considers how to modify the system, a variety of
important items must be considered. The checklist is equally as
wide-ranging and will vary with each proposal. I believe the best way to
strengthen families, grow businesses, and boost our national economy is to
let taxpayers keep more of their money. That means government must get its
spending under control and reduce the economic burden on every taxpayer.

Again, I value your effort to get in touch with me to share your thoughts,
as many Idahoans do. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future on
this or other issues.

Very Truly Yours,

James E. Risch
United State Senator
