This conversation will feature Jerry Berrier, who has been totally blind from birth and birding by ear since 1972. Jerry worked as an assistive technology specialist, most recently as Director of Assistive Technology for the Perkins School for the Blind; he retired in June of 2021.

He has served as an accessibility consultant with Mass Audubon on more than a dozen All Persons Trails projects. For several years, he has conducted birding by ear workshops at L.L Bean’s annual spring birding event in Freeport, Maine, and numerous birding programs for adults and children who are blind.

New live webinars will be on the first Tuesday of every month until March 2022. Throughout this six-part webinar series, our guests speak about their experiences with birding, everyday life with their disability or health concern, and ways the birding community can improve access to birding opportunities and become more welcoming and inclusive.

We will be providing closed captions and American Sign Language interpretation for these webinars. The event is free but does require registration. If you are interested in the series but are unable to attend this webinar, please register to receive the recording and announcements about future webinars in the series.

I hope you can join us!

Sincerely,

Naamal De Silva
