Winter Board Meeting Agenda January 19, 2026
*Call to order: invocation, Vickie Bateman: roll call: introduction of
Guests
*Confirmation of Joe Grover as 2nd vice-president
* Approval of Minutes
*Treasurer's Report: discussion and approval
*$100.00 contribution sent to our national office in honor of Sandy
* Options for memorializing Sandy in our scholarship program: option 1. Name
the scholarship program in her name: name an existing scholarship in her
honor:
Have a separate scholarship that members contribute to in her honor. Would
this be a continuing program?
*Should we name a scholarship for Jordana Engebretsen because of her
commitment to blind children?
* Scholarship report; Mike Gibson is working on documents: scholarship
committee will be appointed very soon: Edelstein funds have been received,
and funds are expected for 2027 as well
* Washington Seminar attendees Joe and Cindy Grover, Nicole Hill, and Shane
Ostermeier
*Looking for volunteer to be our legislative director
*State convention 2026: Boise Vista Inn 2645 Airport Way: room rates $129
plus tax: 13% meeting room tax and 20% service tax added to the bill
*Board dinner $21.50, banquet $32.00. student lunch $21.50. Should we raise
rates to cover more of the costs?
*Tom Page, president, NFB of Kansas, will be our national rep., are there
activities or issues you'd like him to help with?
*We will do bingo on Thursday night, and an open mic on Friday night. Doing
a basket fundraiser. *Individuals who have equipment or technique to share
can have a spot in vendor exhibit: crafts are also invited
*Planning on a professional counselor to address grief and loss with sight
loss
*Speaker ideas
*Discussion of our innovative projects award grant. We need accountability
from recipients
*National convention, July 3-8 Austin Tx, Kennith Jernigan scholarships are
open *website report
*You-tube, what should its future be?
*Reminders: chapter treasurers need to have their reports in by the end of
the month: Chapters need to play the chapter presidential release at each
meeting kudos to Snake River Valley Chapter for doing this at their recent
meeting.
*Membership portal: Should we plan a training session to show people how to
use it?
