I belong to the NFB "Committee for the Advancement and Promotion of
Braille" (CAPB).
The committee is promoting participation in webinars and a survey to
document braille usage around the world. I encourage you to consider
participation as invited in the text below.
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that members of Focus Area 3 (Research) are
ready to launch the Global Braille Survey. This is an important milestone
in our joint ICEVI-WBU braille literacy campaign, More Braille: More
Empowerment.
The survey represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a
comprehensive understanding of the global braille landscape. We aim to
gather robust evidence that will inform future advocacy, policy, funding,
teacher preparation, and braille literacy initiatives around the world.
To officially launch the survey, the Braillists Foundation is hosting two
live online webinars. We invite you to register to attend one of the
webinars and to share the attached flyer throughout your personal and
professional networks.
Registration: <http://www.braillists.org/survey> www.braillists.org/survey
Webinar 1 - Friday 7 August
11:00 am GMT / 7:00 am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
Webinar 2 (Repeat Session) - Tuesday 11 August
12:01 am GMT / Monday 10 August, 8:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
To accommodate participants from different time zones, the webinar will be
presented twice. You only need to attend one session. When you register,
you will automatically receive Zoom links for both webinars and may join
whichever session is most convenient.
Spanish translation is currently being organised.
Following the webinar, the survey links will be distributed widely, and we
hope as many people as possible will participate. The strength of this
research depends on broad international participation from people who read
braille, families, teachers and professionals, and braille transcribers.
Thank you for your continued commitment and support.
With warm regards,
Frances Gentle
