Once all of the liners are in the tin, I then use a spoon to scoop out the cupcake batter and put it in the liners. Hi all,<br>
Do any of you have any tips/suggestions for doing this without making a mess?<br>
I've been working on independent living skills and yesterday the teacher wanted<br>
to teach me how to ice cupcakes (we didn't get to do that because I was late and<br>
they weren't cool enough by the time our time was up) but anyway the part I<br>
struggled with the most was getting the batter into the liners as they were the<br>
paper ones and they're so flimsy that they kept closing. I tried using an ice<br>
cream scoop and then a measuring cup but I didn't find either worked very well<br>
as it took forever to get each liner full enough and I ended up being rather<br>
messy which I hated so I'm really hoping that list members will have ideas<br>
that'll make the process go quicker and be less messy if she wants me to<br>
actually work on icing again or if I ever get brave enough to try it on my own<br>
someday when I'm living alone. I look forward to reading any tips that anyone<br>
has!! Thanks<br>

I use either a measuring cup with a spout or a scoop with with a lever. Give it time you will keep improving.a <br>

The best way that works for me is to hold the cupcake liner in the palm of<br>
my hand and sort of curl my hand/fingers around it. Then I just use a small<br>
scoop to get the batter in it. I have to fill the scoop 1.5 - 2 times to get<br>
enough batter in the liner but the smaller size scoop allows me a little<br>
more room when emptying the batter into the middle of the liner. Then I<br>
carefully move my hand to an empty slot in the muffin tin and sort of<br>
slide/drop it in. Sometimes I have to tug on the upper edge of the liner a<br>
bit to straighten it out once it's sitting in the tin.<br>

My cup the paper cupcake cups in the palm of my hand and fill them over the bowl and then put them in the muffin pan. You could also use a teacup to hold the cupcake paper paper fill it over the bowl and then take one edge and pull it out of the teacup so that it falls into the muffin pan<br>

I have tried ice cream scoops, but they are too wide and make a mess. So I've since used smaller cookie scoops. They are smaller so it takes longer to fill the cups.<br>

Also I buy the sturdier cupcake liners. It might cost slightly more, but they are worth it<br>

Thirdly, be patient with yourself. It takes a lot of practice. Have a towel on the counter to clean your hands off so you can feel where the drips are. How strict is your instructor about this task? Is a little mess on the edges of the paper liners ok? It's easy to wipe of the muffin pan if it gets batter dripped on it, but the liners are something else. So maybe try practicing at home a few times before you have to do it again in class.<br>
Good luck. It's not an easy task, blind or sighted.<br>
