November 7, 2017 screening in Curtis Hall on Iowa State campus.
Attend if you can.

 Topic seven: panel time!
Introductions.
Question one: how did you become involved with the NFB?
Answer one: became involved at the state level. Started as a member and
grew in position over the years.
Answer two: became involved in the NFB in 2009. Discovered the NFB as a
result of asking questions about the future. Got involved because of
another, more experienced member.
Question two: out of all the people you have met so far through the NFB,
who is the one who you find most beneficial for your education/career/life
in general?
Answer one: NABS state representative. Began as an asset inside the NFB and
has grown to more than just a business associate.
Answer two: Pam (the woman in charge of LCB) who offers endless support,
guidance, and challenges.
Question three: what is a good strategy that you have found for an
introvert when trying to meet new people and network?
Answer one: approach every conversation with a goal. Learn something from
every conversation you have. Be approachable in body language and
attentiveness.
Answer two: be confident in yourself. Talk confidently. Don’t answer
everything with a question. Find something in common with the person you
are communicating with. Build on what others say to you. The more you
communicate, the easier it gets.
Question four: how do you feel like networking will help you in your
future employment?
Answer one: everything in life is built off of connections. Every
conversation has a give and a get. Make connections that can relate back to
beneficial possibilities. Reach out when given opportunities, such as job
fairs. Ask questions and get answers. Be willing to approach and set some
short-term goals for yourself. Promote yourself!
Answer two: you have to learn to network with others outside the workplace.
It can be your goal to reach out to others. You have to network to meet
your own needs as well. Networking never stops. Sometimes, stepping outside
of your comfort zone is a necessity.
Answer one reprised: manage your contact list. Gather information and store
it. This information can be resourceful in lots of different situations.
Don’t only reach out when you need something. Keep relations alive.
Question five: what do you do for your personal and professional images on
social media?
Answer one: your profile can tell others a lot about you. Understand your
social media sites. Keep your profile respectable. Employers do look at
social media.
Answer two: be mindful about the content of your posts. Don’t let your
typing fingers get faster than your brain. Peoples opinions of you can
change based on your posts. Be prepared for this. If you don’t want to be
question about something, keep it off the Internet. However, be your true
self. Don’t post things about people who you work with (even if you think
you are being subtle.)
Answer one reprised: be original. Stand out.
Answer two reprised: don’t post things about your work place before your
employer makes their original post.
