Terry,

Yes, she did have problems with her hands. The last time I said her, she
had lost her husband. He had been very sick. I haven't seen her in
years. She started AT with the Apple computer.

She used to work for the VA.  She had complications with her hands, but
still could use the computer and I think she was on the blind bowling
leag.  
I just remembered, she was ACB, but she was very nice and understanding.
She knew how to work with multi handicapped people.

Are those from out of state welcome?  I do not know if metro access
would bring me that far.  Shure would be nice to meet you all.  Do
either of you know Susan Boaz? She was my computer teacher, long ago.  I
sure miss her and would like to get in contact, again.  She moved and I
lost contact.

I'm the president of the Springfield Chapter. We only have a couple of
knitters in our chapter but a few more crafty people. It would be fun to
get some of us together to do something sometime.

Hi Joy,

I did not know that you are here in VA.  I live in Fairfax City.  My
husband also works for Fairfax County schools.  He is a School Based
Technology Specialist for a county elementary school.  Are you a member
of the Potomac Chapter?  I am a member of the Fairfax Chapter, but have
not had time to attend meetings in a very long time.  There a number of
knitters and crocheters in the local NFB chapters, and we always say
that we are going to get together for some type of small craft/social
gathering, but never get around to it.

Thanks for the description of the cozy.

This is Joy and I'm over here just outside the beltway in Fairfax
county. I actually live n Rose Hill. Belle and I have had to limit our
walking to the shopping malls and grocery stores and we don't have any
side walks right now and the street and pretty much a mess as well. My
husband's off of work for the week and he's a Fairfax county teacher so
we've had some nice time together. I've been working on finishing a few
craft projects as well.

Hi Terry,

I believe that currently the only members from our list who are from
Virginia are Susan and myself.

The Coffee mug cozies that I am knitting are a pattern I came up with
after trying many of the patterns I found out on the web.  The ones that
I found to be the easiest and most versatile are basically a rectangle.
The rectangle closes around the handle either with 2 buttons and i-cord
loops, or with i-cord strings to tie inside or above and below the mug
handle. These cozies do not go under the mug.

The mug Cozy that I've come up with starts out as a rectangle that can
be done in a variety of patterns.  I make some from a single strand of
yarn and some from a double strand of yarn.  I cast on between 24-36
stitches depending on the yarn type, and needles.  Once the rectangle is
the size I need, I do not bind off.  Instead I do a 2, 3 or 4 stitch
i-cord attached edging along what would normally be the bound off edge.
Now depending on many factors including my mood, I continue the attached
i-cord in a way that incorporates the short edges of the rectangle and
makes a hole for the handle to stick out through.  Sometimes I continue
the attached i-cord along the cast on edge as well.  It is taking me
about 2 hours to knit each cozy depending on how complex the rectangle
pattern gets. I get bored with plain old stockenette and garter, but if
I don't stop adding names to the list of who I want to give the cozies
to, I will have to stick with simple and fast if I want to get them out.
The current set I am working on are from 2 strands of yarn, grey and
navy. 

I hope to get out tonight to buy mugs at Michaels so that I can give the
cozies as gifts for Christmas.

Here in Northern Virginia we got 20 inches of snow in our yard.  My
in-laws on Long Island got 23 inches.  My parents in central New York
didn't even get a flurry.

As a result of the government being closed here in the DC area due to
the snow, I got quite a bit of knitting done today.  I am knitting
coffee mug cozies for gifts for co-workers and others.

Gee whiz here right on Long Island sound wherre I live in CT we got 10
