[Nfb-krafters-korner] Request for a knitted or crocheted scarfpattern

Hi, Joyce,

I usually like to find some sort of pattern that requires some effort so it
isn't so mindless, I don't mean to insult anything or anybody, I just don't
want to get bored so I try to find something I have to think about at least
some of the time. I wouldn't say I'm an experienced knitter, but I can do
fairly involved patterns. The yarn that I have for this scarf is called
NatureSpun and says it's made from recycled bottles. It's a 4-ply yarn and
there's 5 ounces per skein and I have two solid black. Since it's a solid
color I thought it would be good to have some sort of interesting pattern
and maybe something kind of open would be good since it's for around the
office. I'd really appreciate your suggestions as then I'd be getting
something that we know works. I have various sizes of needles and like to
work with anything from 7 or 8 to larger, don't like to get into the really
small knitting, don't have that much patience! (smile!)

Most likely, this will be the project I carry to convention since it won't
be as bulky as the afghan I'm working on at present. I can't believe I'm
actually knitting an afghan. I've always crocheted them in the past. The
afghan I'm making is diamond pattern.

Charlene
,

First I would like to welcome you to the list.

Charleen, it sounds like you have plenty of yarn to do what you want. If
this is for the office you probably would be better off doing something a
little fancier then just gartter stitch[knit every row]. The small poncho
idea is a good one as it would keep the shoulders warm. They do have a lot
of free patterns out online for scarves and all types of ponchos.

So my first question before I could give an answer is how much knitting
experience do you have? Do you like to knit simple or complicated knitting
projects? Is there a certain size needle you prefer to use?

With the above I would have a better idea of what you are looking for.

They have a lot of these lacey scarves out there that work up quickly on
large needles that folks are making and wearing in the office.
