[Nfb-krafters-korner] lighting candles

I only burn candles in the kitchen on the counter.  I have a health fear of
fire.

I also like the 2 inch wooden matches the best for lighting candles.  I've
tried some of the very long matches, but they are too long.  Also, just
asking everyone to remember how dangerous these candles can be and the
lighting process as well.

There have been times when just striking the match can break off the tip of
the match and it can go flying.  For this reason, I always do my lighting in
the kitchen sink.  If I need it I have water right at hand.  I even had the
tip of a light match fly off and hit my chest which made little burn marks
on the sweater I was wearing at the time.

I like the large candles to that have a large opening and I can tilt
slightly to a side so the flame doesn't burn up onto my hand.  And,
regarding the jar candles, I leave them burning in the kitchen on the stove
top because I've had a few of them where the glass has become so hot the
glass jar cracked!  So, yes, very dangerous and always needs to be checked
on and handled with respect.  Never left unsupervised.  The best candles
I've had are from Yankee candle, and some of the worst where the glass
cracked have been from QVC.
