You would want the spungy blocks, soft, for toys.  The ones cindy is talking about are to hard.  I do not know where you get them.  I would ask my craft store.  Sounds neet to be able to knit them.

I am not sure if the flower foam blocks would be a good choice for putting in a baby block toy.
