[Nfb-krafters-korner] Re Great directions for making a slip knot

Carol and Dixie,
As you state - it's not easy to describe something like this. This is exactly why Krafter's Korners was started.  A site to go to to try out your skills for becoming a craft teacher. Helping you gain the confidence to know that you can become excellent craft teachers by having to write minute descriptions of how to accurately describe a set of instructions for your particular craft. Or just a place to work out how to handle a pesky crafting problem a fellow crafter might be able to help you with.
You don't realize how much more talented you are than regular sighted teachers. A sighted teacher is not prepared to think out the number of steps it takes for someone who can't see pictures to learn how to achieve a task, the problems associated with working and adapting equipment to create your art or understanding how to write one step to follow the next to overcome these hurdles.
Joyce and I often spoke of this process during the second year of Krafters Korner. I often stated how insensitive a regular teacher is to knowing how to accomplish these nuances.
So after the struggle of thinking out your instructions the next step is to step up and teach a class on line and share your talent. You'll know if your instructions are well thought out if you get repeat requests from your fellow crafters. Now you can have the confidence to go out in your area and teach a class locally to make some extra money for yourself or perhaps start your own boutique.  Maybe there are a few members out there who have already started a business that would like to walk us through the process, perhaps a how to get started on Etsy or Ebay.
Give thanks to all the wonderful people who have already stepped up to bring you the classes you are enjoying and we look forward to having some newbies get their feet wet and jump in with a preliminary trial class with Joyce before launching their talents.
Also don't forget our talented webmistress, Cindy Sheets who has been plugging away by herself to get everything organized on the great web site she built for us. And Laurie for launching all of the free telephone conference lines to keep us all connected.
Crafts are fun and you all have a world of knowledge to share.
   Happy Crafting
   Audrey Wellner, Secretary
   NFB Krafters Korner

Dixie, I think you did a good job but I couldn't quite follow what you mean in number 3.  When I make a slip knot I wrap the string around the first two fingers.  I would like to hear from someone who doesn't know how to make the knot already.

It's not easy to discribe something like this, is it. I guess that is why the books always rely on pictures.
