I'm thinking the disk method would be the easiest to start with, as I
have more variety of patterns to offer in that one. I think I could
do others on a marudai, but I need to find some more empty pill
bottles to try the other patterns myself before I try to teach them.
For the disk, the number of classes depends on what we want to do.
Here's a possible outline:
Session 0: Making disks and/or bobbins: Explanation of how to create
disks more cheaply than buying them online, as well as a discussion of
options for making bobbins if desired.
NOTE: Winding the threads on the bobbins would be done between classes.
Sesion 1: Basic 7-strand braid: This class would cover what is, in my
opinion, the simplest braid to do on a disk. We would also cover
options for tying the cord off at the end for this and all future
sessions.
Session 2: Simple 8-strand pattern: A pattern using 8 strands that can
be expanded to any multiple of 4 strands you choose to create.
(Optional) Session 3: An 8-strand flat braid: This pattern creates a
braid that is flat, rather than fully rounded.

This outline can be tweaked to fit the group's preferences.
