Jewel:

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Encore by Plymouth Yarn is not a
yarn that can be used for knitting the military helmet liners. It has 75%
acrylic and only 25% wool in it. It is called a "washable wool" but it is
not the required 100% washable wool that is required for the knitted helmet
liner project. The cascade is 100% wool no matter if you get the super wash
or the hand wash variety of it.

A lot of people like the Plymouth Encore because of its washibility and they
say it wears like iron, but I suspect that is due to the high percentage of
acrylic in the yarn. I hope you have family or friends that you might be
able to gift the helmet liner to because for the military anything with
acrylic or nylon is a safety issue.
