[Nfb-krafters-korner] Dream Catchers

Mobiles is the other item I was thinking of. They hang like a dream catcher but have items related to a theam, hanging from them. Used a lot for a baby's room.

Hi Terry --
I think I know what you are talking about -- they are cut in shapes, like a shamrock or a turtle or something, and have some kind of wire frame of the appropriate shape around each section of the figure and colored glass or plastic cut to the right shapes. Right?

The plastic ones I used to call mobiles, since you could create a bunch of figures by bending the wire into shapes and dipping it in some concoction that would leave a colored transparent surface. Then hook the different figures -- like butterflies or flowers -- into a bouquet and hang them up for mobiles.

I don't know what you'd call the window ornaments.
Maybe some of this rings a bell with someone else.
I think it would be a good craft for blind krafters as it is fairly tactile, except for selecting the colors.
Somebody tell me if you have seen these. What were they made of? What shapes were they in?

If these are dream catchers, what are the items, usually made of colored
glass, you hang in a window and the light shines through.

Hi Terry -- Dream catchers are little round flat objects to hang on the wall
above your bed and are supposed to catch all the bad dreams so you aren't
bothered by them much -- or something like that. The ones I have seen are
like a circular frame strung with crisscross string, kind of like a tennis
racket, and decorated with feathers and possible other colorful items. I
even have jewelry -- silver necklace and earrings -- that are shaped like
dream catchers. They are favorites; people love them.
Anyway, hope that is accurate -- someone please correct me if I haven't
explained it right.

Can someone describe what a dream catcher is?

Oh Dixie,

I love them and have pondered over purchasing kits to give it a try.

Please let's book a class. We have openings now in February and March.
