[Nfb-krafters-korner] Very Easy Prayer Shawl for Mary

You can use a verigated yarn and it will be beautiful. A smoother yarn is
easier for a person to use that is not accustomed to the lumpy yarns or the
boucle' yarns. They are harder to use, and if you have to tear them out,
they are a BEAR! Select a nice smooth yarn. Lion Brand Wool Ease is good if
you want a thiker yarn. It is a wool blend that is washable, too.
You can also use a worsted weight yarn that is acrylic or an acrylic and
wool blend yarn for a good shawl. Lots are available at JoAnns or
Michaels, or Hobby Lobby.
One yarn that worked out really nice for me recently is the Plymouth Yarn
"Encore Chunky". It is a blend of 75 percent acrylic and 25 percent wool. It
is very soft and very easy to use - it glides on the needles very smoothly
and is so easy to use. What I like is that it is machine wash and dry, and
size 10 needles usually work well. I got it in a yarn shop, and I do not
think it is available at Michaels or JoAnns. If you have a good yarn shop in
your area, they most likely carry Plymouth yarns. The good part is that it
is only about $6. per skein, and I made a shrugawl from it, using 5 skeins.
It is made in Turkey.
Be sure to let us know what you get and how it is going. I love to hear
reports on works in progress.
