Dixie,
For the tri loom count how many pegs you have across the top and then  
multiply the number of pegs times 7 feet, then divide by 3 and you will get the  
yardage for the shawl.  If you want to add a fringe you need to count the  
pegs down one side multiply by 2 , decide how long of a fringe you want, 
double  it and multiply that times the number of pegs going down both sides 
which is the  number yu got above.  On the 5 foot loom I used a 9 inch fringe 
so that was  18 or 1/2 yard per peg.  The fringe takes a lot of yarn and 
since you have  a 7 foot loom a fringe may not be the best depending on how 
short you are.
