Great comments Laurie and audrey!
No affence Di, but we want to prove to the world that we can craft. Maybe
you can have success with the other groups.
Even if we do not do this as a fund raiser, this should not prevent those
who want to, to buy a set from you to help another group.

Lets discuss the earring idea on an evening chat. I am willing to give it a
try.
We could learn it now and have a year to make the items for 2011.

Terry

Laurie,
I support your opinion! This is supposed to be a group of people who
handcraft their own items, whose talents will be professional enough to be
juried to sell in any high end craft show. Let's not sway away from that
premise! The group was formed on the idea of promoting crafts that show the
talents of blind crafters, not something made overseas. These earrings will
not represent what the group is all about and will mislead buyers into
thinking perhaps other items we toil so hard to make were not handcrafted,
but purchased. We started this group to help people from this organization
be able to develop a skill in hand crafting items they would be proud enough
of to sell, teach others to develop the confidence to learn and acquire
successful business entrepreneurial skills to start a business of their own,
enter any juried show or teach what we are so proud of having learned. We
have enough of the other kind of merchandise choking up our economy. Be
independent, show off your own talent and create what you do. The first and
fifteenth of the month is reserved for selling and advertising what members
create, not what someone else manufactures.

I have a problem with the krafters korner fundraiser reselling earrings sold
by a large company who has them made in in some sweat shop where the people
are paid next to nothing per hour. the Avon company is notorious for doing
that sort of thing. I also believe that cheap earrings sold at convention
would undermine other members who actually do make them and want to sell
them. I realize that other kinds of jewlery is sold at convention, but I
think the krafters korner is a division of krafters and I think we should
continue to support eachother by selling something the members make. I think
making earrings is a good idea. Perhaps we could come up with a way to
streamline making them to have to sell at convention and during the year as
well. Something simple with reasonably priced materials that would appeal to
the many tastes. I know in the past we considered making name badges and
that never got it together. If we wanted to organize an earring project
with the members helping to make the product, then I'd be willing to donate
my time to teach the classes on making the earrings, and putting together
the kits for the people who want to make them. All I would need form the
division is to be reimbersed for the shipping and materials costss.
I think it would be a good idea for us to do fundraising
