[Nfb-krafters-korner] Tips for knitting cables needed

Susan, thank you! I've noticed an issue with gaps, so your tip will be put
into place immediately. I really do not want to have to rip out yet another
item and have my family comment on it.

Since we are once again on the topic of ripping out projects, here is one
that tops the cake. One day when I was on the train I had to rip out
something, and the person sitting next to me offered to wind up the yarn as
I ripped. I'm not going to put energy into thinking what this says about
me.

Annette

Hi Annette,

I've used different cable needles, but I think I really like the v shaped
ones better. Their shape makes it easier for their own weight to keep the
cable stitches in the v crook and less likely to slip off. Watch your
stitches as you knit the cable stitches in place and then start back up with
the non-cable stitches because it is very easy to find loose stitches which
causes gaps right where your cable crosses over on either side. Always knit
a couple of stitches past your cable so you can feel for loose stitches. It
is then easy to go back and adjust loose stitches before you have locked
your cable in with the next back side row.

Trust me, I had nearly finished a baby throw when I was checking it over
before casting it off, I found that one of my cables about 3 inches from the
beginning, I had twisted it the wrong way. You don't want to know the *#%(*
thoughts that were going through my mind! So, you know what happened next!
RIP, RIP, RIP! I started all over again with the same pattern and managed
it right the second time around.

Oh well, practise makes perfect?
