This does sound great!  It does not have to be just for kids.   Cut up 
various things like, ham, cheese, bacon bits, etc   Let them  throw in the 
cracked egg, put their name on it with marker and toss into the  boiling water.
 
Around how long should you leave it in the water?  Especially if you  can't 
see it?  Get those timers out.
