[Nfb-krafters-korner] Question about Macrame Belt Project.

Hi eileen -- it is supposed to be flat, with running square knotts about an
inch or 2 apart, depending how heavy your cord is, and depending on your
preference for the outcome.
In between the knots there should be a kind of daisy chain effect -- kind of
like hearts or teardrops in alternating colors, strung the full length of
the belt.
Think of the point of the heart as being the 2 cords in the center after
they have been tied. You take them and pull them out and over the other
cords to the outside and tie a knot with them, so it looks like the heart is
upside-down from your point of view. Another nice thing about this belt is
that it looks identical on both sides. you don't have to worry about getting
the right side out when you put it on.

There is one thing to watch, though -- if you put the belt down and come
back to it later, be sure you are working on the same side you were on
before. The reason is that if you look at one side, the middle cords are
coming out over the outer cords (like we did in class) so the heart looks
upside-down. But if you flip it over, you see that the center cords are
being pulled out under the outer cords -- or in other words, the outer cords
are being pulled together into the middle and so when you tie the knot it
looks like you have a right-side-up heart.

You can tie it either way. You might not like doing it the way I did in
class -- just be sure to work on the same side for the whole length of the
belt so you don't get right-side-up and upside-down hearts mixed when you
don't expect it.

Unless of course, you are being creative and creating your own pattern...
Then you can throw the patterns out the window...

Happy krafting.

Well, I'm not sure. I'm just trying to be consistant. I am not certain
that after I work the under over, under over part that I am creating the
"knot" correctly. I am not sure what this finished item should be feeling
like; a tube, a flat piece or something between a tube and flat??
