 Embroidery floss comes in a long thin bundle. Sort of the same shape as a
bundle of shoe laces comes in.   They are usually in a big group of trays
each color in it's own section or compartment of the trays. The trays
usually go from chest high to the floor and are about 5 feet wide.  So there
are hundreds of colors each in their own compartment of the tray.  The floss
is 6 strands and it needs to be separated to use.  I used to work with 2 of
the 6 threads to do my beading.

I would choose the color that best matched the beads I was applying to my
embroidery project.  The other option I would use is the color that best
matched the fabric I was working on.  That way the thread sort of
disappeared into the fabric when you looked at it.

Alternatively, when I did Peyote stitch I would use beading thread as it is
stronger.  Since I was not applying the beads to fabric with other
embroidery the strength was the important factor.

I had intended to use beading thread.  What is the difference and what
section do you find it in the craft store?

Laura:

Seed beads work nicely with DK, sport or finer weight yarn.  Seed beads by
nature have a large hole.  However, if you try using them with worsted
weight yarn, the worsted is to thick for seed beads and even though you can
force it, they will wear on the yarn fibers.  So use Dk or finer weight.
