[Nfb-krafters-korner] cat fur

I used to save the fur in a basket so it wouldn't get too matted. I also used to take a big hunk of it, maybe the size of a basketball, hold it loosely between both hands, and move my hands like I was making a ball out of it. Gradually I would bring my hands closer and closer together and eventually it would make a very tight and light ball to be used as a fun and quiet cat toy. I think it took about 20 minutes. Maybe you have inspired me to start saving Megillah's fur and do just that. Thanks. My kitties have been long haired cats though, at least the ones whose hair I collected, himalayins and now ragdolls.

  Sue,

I am doing the same thing with my cat. The vet diagnosed her with kidney
failure but that was more than a year ago and she still has way more good
days than bad. I have started using a pet vacuum and that makes it extremely
easy to catch the fur. So far, I am storing it in a loose plastic bag.

I don't think that I want to do much spinning, but I want to learn to be
able to do something special with this fur to have something that means a
lot when she is gone. She is a short-hair so I'll have to work it with
something else to make a usable yarn. My current idea is something where the
fur could be used as a trim around a collar or cuffs. I have made fingerless
gloves and thought it might be nice as the edging.
