Weave it under the stitches on the back side.  Depending on what you  are 
making you can leave the back as is, you can glue a piece of felt to the  
wrong side [good for coasters] or you can make 2 of them and bind them together 
 on the edge leaving wrong sides facing each other.  Then it is  reversable.
