Thanks!

Your attachment did make it in your second message. I was surprised as I
was under the impression that the list serve would not allow attachments. I
guess that must be some other list that I belong to.

Annette

Have a great day.

Hi Annette,

I realized a few minutes after I sent the email that I had not included the
attachment. I sent another email with the attachment. I was able to open
it, but if you are not able to open it, I am including it here.

Intarsia Christmas Tree Bag Homework

MC = bag color
CC = tree color

With MC, cast on 25 sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Next row: *K2, yo, k2tog, Rep from * across, end k1.
Next row: Knit

Back Side of Bag

You will now work the center 19 sts in st st. The first and last 3 sts in
each row wil be worked in a k1, p1, k1 seed st as follows:
Row 1(ws): k1, p1, k1, P19, k1, p1, k1.
Rows 2thru51:
continue in St st (k on RS, p on WS), working seed st at beginning and end
of each row.

Install a life-line around row 50, if you can.

Note: Our seed st is worked on an odd number of sts, therefore, you will
always start with a knit - our seed st sections will never start with a
purl.

I look forward to talking to you Wednesday, Ninn The _ninn at tx.rr.com

Ninn,

Your attachment did not make it. I do not think you can send attachments
through the list, if that is how you sent the e-mail.

Annette

Hello fellow knitters,

Our Intarsia class is fast approaching. This has been a very busy time for
me and all of us, but hopefully, we have all that past us now and can focus
on our little Christmas Tree Bags.

If you have not signed up yet, there is still time to get your name on the
list!

For all of those who have signed up, there is indeed some homework to do.
In order to get right to the intarsia portion of our class, you need to get
the back of your bags knit up to the point where we will start the tree.

I am attaching the pattern for the bag up to the point where we will begin
the tree. If you know how, it might be advantageous to install a life-line
around row 50. If you find it necessary to start over, I don't want you to
have to go all the way back to the beginning. I don't know your comfort
level with taking your work off your needles and ripping back and then
re-inserting the needle into your work. A life-line would be prudent, and
hopefully you won't need it!

Also, you will need a minimum of two bobbins. These bobbins can be store
bought bobbins, but a card or baggie will work just fine. Make two bobbins:

1 bobbin in your bag color (MC). This bobbin should be made with
approximately 7.5 to 8 yards of yarn

1 bobbin for the tree color (CC) should be made with 9 to 9.5 yards of yarn

Very important - you need to be able to distinguish which bobbin is the MC
bobbin and which bobbin is the CC bobbin. We will just continue to use the
skein for the third bobbin. You could use paper clips on the tree bobbin,
or make one bobbin on a card and one in a baggie. However it works best for
you. You will want to be able to keep the yarn secured and easily released
a little at a time as needed.

If you do not feel comfortable jumping right into the intarsia,, just cast
on 25 sts and knit a few rows in stockinette stitch. You can then practice
the intarsia technique on this until you feel confident enough to work on
your bag. Either way, please have the back of your bag done and ready to
go.

These bags work up quickly, so I am confident that you will be able to knit
a few for Christmas this year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Looking forward to Wednesday's class,

Ninn
