What kind of thick yarn do you use? I think I will get the hang of it if I use thick instead of trying to use 2 strands of yarn. If you use 2 strands, do you use both of the same color. I would think a hat would look strange in 2 colors.

Oh good, I'm doing it right then. Now I just need to finish this up and do an official one; I'm only using 1 Worsted strand at the moment, just to get the idea; I'm going to do the official one with some much bulkier yarn. So I'll probably be picking the group's brains soon to figure out how to finish the hat.
