I wish I could have learned, but we had our state convention.  I am not thrilled with double pointed needles.  I have found I can do a few rows of the decreas on the circular needles before changing to double pointed needles.  The less on the double needles, the better.  
Maybe next year.

You're welcome.  Glad again that the explanation made sense.  As for the helmet liners, I used magic loop on all of mine right from the beginning section of the neck band, to the main part & crown of the head section and then again on the face ribbing.  never had to worry about what length cord, it worked right down to the very last 6 or 7 stitches and fastening them off.

Although, if I were just learning this technique, I don't think I'd have a glass of wine and then sit down with it.  Like when tired stay away from knitting, when drinking any beverage with alcohol stay away from the yarn and needles! <SMILE> You must be a much better knitter than I am or just a stronger person...
